Ever feel like you don't know what to do with your life? Not sure you could choose one career for the rest of your life? Well that's exactly how I felt for a long time. In fact my dream of becoming a physician did not really begin until two years ago when my wife was already 3 months pregnant. It was towards the end of my graduate coursework that I realized I wanted to pursue a career as a medical doctor. I began this blog about one year before I was accepted and sparsley documented my MCAT prep and addmissions process. Now that I am in I will be recording how well (or not so well at times) I handle the rigors of being a husband, father, and medical student. My intention is to show that one can have a family and hobbies and still be a successful medical student. I hope this blog will be an inspiration to others taking a non traditional path to their career and also be a little entertaining.

New Years Eve Red Velvet Cake

So why not do one one new thing before this decade is over? That thing is red velvet cake from scratch. Brooke and I are hanging out with another couple tonight that has a small child (my future daughter-in-law actually), and our contribution to dinner will be red velvet cake, if all goes well. Although, I tend to set high expectations for my cooking that are rarely ever met (think Chevy Chase and family vacations), so we may end up taking toll house cookies.
Studying went well yesterday with :45 going to organic and :30 to MCAT. I also put the first coat of stain on Owen's high chair and took Jackson to the vet. 98.1 POUNDS!! (about 15 too much) Today I have already gotten in half an hour of MCAT and will do another :30 + after lunch. Momentum and Collisions today. Ok off to wild wings with the fam. Have a good, safe, new years eve!

Game On.

So, this is my first blog post and with it comes a couple of New Year's resolutions. One is to actually update this blog often if not daily. The second and of course most important is to dedicate at a minimum 1 hour of every single day over the next 5 months to studying for MCAT or Organic Chemistry, with at least 30 minutes going to MCAT subjects other than organic. This however, is only my minimum and most days I will need to spend much more than this. Although the exact date is not known yet I will be taking the MCAT sometime in June so let the countdown begin. I will try to update my progress daily along with exciting daily happenings (like changing 3 poopy diapers before 10AM yesterday). OK back to the books.
